SceneUp is a writing desk for this scene. You write the pages, then pin place, face, voice, and rhythm beside them. There is no account and no SceneUp server.
01 The three tabs
DeskHolds only the notebook you are writing now.
NotebooksEvery manuscript lives here. Open one, duplicate it as a template, or delete it.

This sceneResearch is pinned to the scene in front of you — not to a film library.
02 Write a scene
- Start from Desk, or create a notebook under Notebooks.
- Each scene has a heading and a body. Tag INT/EXT and Day/Night when you want them.
- Use a heading that starts with INT., EXT., INT./EXT., or INT/EXT. if you want SceneUp to treat a new line as a scene heading.
- Focus hides the extra chrome so the page is larger. Tap Exit Focus at the top to come back.
- Characters live in a list on the notebook. When you pin a face, you can add that person to the list at the same time.
03 Pin research to this scene
Open Place, Face, Voice, or Rhythm under the page. Nothing is requested until you tap Search.
- Place — stills from a title, walking videos, or a location photo from Photos. Up to 6 pins.
- Face — search an actor, or search a film and pick from the credits.
- Voice — an interview, a pasted YouTube link, or a line you record yourself. Voice memos never go through YouTube. Up to 3 voice pins.
- Rhythm — official trailers, or a YouTube search for pace.
If you already have a YouTube URL, paste it. You can reuse a pin from another scene in the same notebook. A still can be the notebook cover; otherwise SceneUp uses the first still in scene order.
04 Export
From the writing page menu you can export the manuscript as text, Fountain, a PDF of the pages with research grouped by Place / Face / Voice / Rhythm, selected scenes only, or this scene’s research as a PDF.
SceneUp writes the file on the device, then opens the system share sheet. You choose where it goes.
05 If something will not load
- No stills or videos — you need a network. Writing still works offline. Tap Search only when you want results. Try another title or name if the list is empty.
- Player will not open — use Open in YouTube. SceneUp plays video in the official player. It does not download finished films or capture frames.
- Microphone or Photos denied — that is fine. You can turn them on later in iOS Settings. The pages still write.
- Images look stale — Settings → Clear search and image caches. Your manuscript is not deleted.
- iCloud — notebooks can sync when this device is signed in. If you are not signed in, they stay on this device only.
06 What SceneUp is not
It is not a movie browser. There is no Discover page and no popular-films feed. Place, Face, Voice, and Rhythm exist to serve the scene you are writing.
07 Send a note
In the app, open Settings → Feedback. Pick Bug, Idea, or Other, write the note, and Send. SceneUp has no server, so Send uses Mail on this device. If Mail is not set up, copy the note and send it to the address below.
Please include what you were doing, and the SceneUp version from Settings → About SceneUp. Do not paste pages you do not want in email.
